VdS Lenses for Box Cameras
Focal length 12.0 mm (4x zoom)Focal length 2.8 mm (wide angle range)
Manual iris (17:00) Auto-iris function (17:00)
For changing light conditions, choose the auto-iris lenses. These lenses
automatically adjust the aperture to the differently occurring light (depending
on the time of day) and always guarantee optimally exposed images. With
manual lenses, you control the aperture manually - a cost-effective choice for
applications where a constant source of incoming light is guaranteed.
The TV8553 and TV8554 VdS lenses
are also equipped with manual and
auto-iris functions. These lenses have
a focal length of wide 2.8 to 12.0 mm
(4x zoom).
The TV8552 VdS-telephoto lens
provides you with a exible 5x zoom
with a focal length of 8.5 to 40.0 mm
as well as an auto iris function.
The TV8572 and TV8573 VdS-
telephoto lens are available with
manual and auto-iris aperture. With
a focal length of 5.0 to 50 mm (10x
zoom) they are ideally suited for long
distances.
The TV8555 and TV8556 VdS-lenses
are equipped with manual or auto-
iris-aperture. The focal length of 2.9
to 8.2 mm (3x zoom) provides a slight
wide angle.

How to calculate the necessary focal length
in mm for a 1/3” image sensor:
Which lens should you use?
The angle of view and the focal length are decisive factors for the lens. For sharp images, the following must be taken into consideration: the
optimal distance between the camera and the object and the width of the area to be covered by the camera. If these two values are known
(distance from the camera to the object and the width of the area to be covered), the focal length can be calculated.
Example based on the
picture (left):
10 m x 4.8 mm
2 m
48 mm
2
= = 24 mm
For this situation, all lenses with a focal length of 24 mm are suitable. An
overview of the lenses with corresponding focal lengths can be found in the
table on the left.
